Nigeria Startup Portal Registration: Login startup.gov.ng. The Federal Government on Tuesday launched the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, which is a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act.
The Startup Support and Engagement Portal is a one-stop portal that provides startups with easy access to registrations, access to information, resources, incentives, collaboration and linkages.

About the Nigeria Startup (startup.gov.ng).
The Startup Support and Engagement Portal was set up as part of efforts to collate and classify startups in Nigeria to benefit from the opportunities provided in the Nigerian Startup Act 2022. Specifically, the portal will facilitate the labelling of Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs and innovation centres in Nigeria. This is under the requirements of Section 10 of the Nigerian Startup Act, 2022.
The Nigeria Startup Portal will facilitate the labelling of Nigerian Startups and the registration of Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, Accelerators, Incubators and innovation Hubs (A.I.I.), and Civil Society Organisations involved in the advancement of Technology and Innovation.

Highlights of the Nigeria Startup Act
- Establishes the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (The Council), with representation from relevant Ministries and Agencies of the Federal Government as well as the Nigerian Startup Ecosystem, to support complementary policy-making and approve programmes for the development of startups in Nigeria
- Set up a consultative forum for Nigerian ecosystem stakeholders to engage and present proposals to ‘The Council’ on policies and ideas to develop the Nigerian Startup Ecosystem
- Provide for the Startup Investment Seed Fund which will be managed by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA). to support pipeline development and improve access to seed capital for tech-enabled startups

Startups Registration
Criteria to enrol:
- Be a limited liability company registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
- Be a company existing for less than 10 years from the date of incorporation.
- Have objects that are focused on innovation, development, production, improvement, and commercialization of a digital technology innovative product or process.
- Be a holder or repository of a product or process of digital technology or the owner or author of a registered software.
- Have at least one-third of local shareholding held by one or more Nigerians as founder or co-founder of the startup.
- Satisfy the conditions set out in the Act, in the case of a sole proprietorship or partnership.
- Be a tech-enabled business that uses existing tools, platforms, libraries, and frameworks to make a company or a solution more efficient or effective.

Angel Investors provides early-stage funding and mentorship to catalyze innovation and help startups attract larger funding rounds.
Criteria to enrol:
- Be a high-net-worth individual or company which provides funding to an early-stage startup, typically in exchange for equity in the startup company.
- Provide proof of investments, membership of an Angel Network, or Investment Syndicate is desirable.

- Innovation Hub: Provide or demonstrate proof of possession of physical or virtual space where innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts come together to collaborate, exchange ideas, and work on innovative projects

What is the council?
The Council refers to the National Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council (NDIEC), which is the highest government body of the Nigeria Startup Act whose primary mandate is to align national policies for the development of startups and establish programmes to support tech-enabled start-ups in Nigeria.

Can a Startup Label be withdrawn?
Yes, a startup label will be withdrawn if a startup is in default of the obligations of a labelled startup or fails to meet the eligibility criteria.
Can a label be issued to a startup company that is not technology-enabled?
No, a Startup Label can only be issued to a startup that is technology-enabled.
Can the startup Label be issued to a startup that is more than 10 years in existence?
